Now this is a big smoke!

There are cigar parties and there was Cigars International’s Cigarfest on May 6. 1,500 people crammed
into the Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmony, Pennsylvania and collected 42 cigars each, plus a humidor,
duffel bag and commemorative poster while downing as much pork as possible from the on-site pig roast and hearty samples from
six micro-breweries and 11 different spirits companies. All for $75!
Only now recovered, Cigars International President Keith Meier noted that the event “sold out in four weeks . . . no
exaggeration to say we easily could have attracted over 3 or 4,000 if we had unlimited space to work with. But exactly 1,500
tickets were available and all sold quickly.” At 42 cigars per, that’s 63,000 cigars donated by most of the major manufacturers
and distributors in the country!
This is one of the largest cigar events in the country and an amazing bargain when the value of the food, drink and cigars
are combined. And the cigars were great, including (but not limited to) Bohemian Red Corojo from Victor Sinclair, Camacho
Corojo, C.A.O. in three styles: Black, Criollo and Flavours, Cusano 18 and Corojo, Felipe Dominicana, Fonseca, Graycliff’s G2,
two styles of Gurkha, H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon, La Aroma de Cuba, La Aurora Cameroon, Leon Jimenes, two styles of Oliveros XL,
Padilla, two styles of Perdomo (Reserve Cameroon and ESV ‘91), Peterson, Punch, two types of Puros Indios, Rocky Patel Vintage
‘92, two styles of Toraño and many more.
“There were raffles running throughout and when all was said and done the chance of leaving with more stuff was 1-in-155,” Meier
wrote. “This netted $10,100 for a non-profit called LifePath which serves special-needs and mentally handicapped individuals in
Pennsylvania.”
Well done, well done!
